RUTA 1: WHERE THE PYRENÉES MEET THE WILD COAST
The cycle route takes you to the national park of Cap de Creus. You will enjoy dropping wiews over the bay of Roses and the mountains. You will go off the beaten pad and discover secret coves of the Costa Brava.
Every day you will cycle between 40 and 60 kilometers, sometimes with lot of climbs. In the evening, you will rest in your hotel on the beach or in a classy historic house.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL & OPCIONAL TRIP
Upon arrival , you will be transferred to your charming hotel in Palau de Saverdera on a ridge. After you are settled in, you will provide you with a welcome drink on the roof terrace and an info package about your trip and bike.
If you are up for it, you can already do a cycle or hiking trip the same day.
There are several restaurants at walking distance. We recommend you Fusion, a restaurant with a stunning wiew over the bay of Roses, chosen a Unesco Worldheritage.
DAY 2: BREATHTAKING SCENERY IN THE MOUNTAINS

Today you will climb the Pyrenees and enjoy the views over the bay of Roses and the Emporda countryside.
You start your trip through the swamps of the Aiguamolls, a known bird sanctuary and natural preservation. In springtime you can see the storks building nest here. In the town of Villajuiga the climb starts while you enter the natural park of Cap the Creus.
You will make you way up to the top, where you can over look the peninsula and its extra ordinary bea, uty. You will eventually arrive at the Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery, formely a Benedictine abbey, is a notable example of Catalan Romenesque.It has a marvellous view over the Alt Empordà, the Cap de Creus headland and far into the high Pyrenees.
You will then make your way down to Port the la Selva, a white fishermans village where you can have a lunch. Afterwards you ‘ll ascend again over the other side and eventually come to you destination of the day: Cadaqués.
Cadaqués is a gorgeous fishermans village that looks like a postcard. You will stay in a hotel on the beach, right next to house where Salvador Dalí used to live. He had a mirror installed in his bedroom from where he could watch the sunrise from his bed every morning. Since this is the most easterly pont of mainland Spain, he knew he would be the first person in the country to see the sun.
The rest of the day, you can either relax at swimming pool or beach, visit the house of Dali, take a stroll and buy some souvenirs in Cadaqués. Those who wants to discovet some secret coves of the Costa Brava, can rent a Kayak in front of your hotel.
EXTRA TRIP:
If you still want to cycle you can do an extra 16 km round trip to he lighthouse of Cap de Creus. The windy road takes you through a remarkable landscape that is shaped by the strong Norhten wind, the Tramontana. Weird looking rock informations give this place an extra terrastrial feel. Next to the lighthouse you can enjoy fresh fish and lots of other dishes with a fantastic view over the rugged coastline.
For those who like topgastronomie, we recommend the exclusive restaurant of Compartir. A few chefs from the world famous El Bulli restaurant that closed a few years ago opened up this restaurant. You will enjoy top gastronomie in a relaxed setting.
DAY 3: THE FIERCE BEAUTY OF CAP DE CREUS
CADAQUÉS – CASTELLÓ D'EMPÚRIES

After breakfast you cycle back on the same road via Cadaqués and the Col from Perafita to the Bay of Roses. You can chose to take the mountain bike path or the paved road. The mountain bike path takes you along a rugged coast with secret coves ang breathtaking views. After the descent you can either have a lunch off the beaten pad, in a restaurant on a remote beach or in the more touristy town of Roses.
You will then cycle trough the swamps of the Aiguamolls direction Empuriabrava. The town of Empuria is built around canals and therefore is also called the Venice of Spain. (poner construida en 1967 y la marina más grande del Mediterraneo). You can rent a small electrical boat and take it throug the canals. This town is home of the biggest pleasure port of Europe and the biggest skydiving club in Europe. Those who likes a bit of adventure, can do a tandem jump over the bay of Roses (reservation requiered).
You can choose to either stop your short trip here or you can spent oner more night in Empordà.
If so you continue following the track next to the river Muga till Castelló d’Empúries. This is a medieval village with small streets, an impressive cathedral an many nice terraces. Your hotel is a beautiful decorated old house . It has a swimming pool and although it’s in the center, it’s very peaceful and quiet.
DAY 4: TRANSFER & RETURN HOME
After breakfast, we will pick you up and take you back to your car or to the train station
